This was one of the feature many Administrators ware waited for, though it’s available in Exchange 2010, it was something ignored in Exchange 2007, but now with the release of SP3, Administrators can allow OWA users to change their passwords, this comes really handy when you have many mobile users in your environment, though it’s available in SP3 by default this feature is turned off, you need to change following registry key in your CAS server in order to make it available to end users.
To enable the password reset feature
- Log on to the Exchange server that is running the CAS role by using an account that has local administrator rights.
-
Start Registry Editor, and then locate the following registry subkey:
HLKM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchange OWA
- Create the following DWORD value if it does not already exist:
Value name: ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled Value type: REG_DWORDValue data: 1
- Exit Registry Editor.
